Seasonality Core App Reviews

A weather geeks delight

This latest version turns Seasonality Core into something special for the weather geek. The particle mode along with surface features creates as clear a picture of whats going on beyond anything Ive seen to date. Put the weather map full screen, max out the particle mode (be sure to click "Pause in Background" for the particle mode. It uses alot of your processing power), turn on surface analysis, and then zoom out and see our worlds weather in all its glory. Theres nothing else like it. Seasonality Core is worth every dime.

Perfect

Beautiful interface, great data. Love it.

Amazing Weather App - Educational Too

This weather app truly amazes me. The maps are very high resolution and beautiful. Mountains look like mountains and dessert looks like desser. There is a particle mode that shows as best I understand it what would happen if you could see what the wind would do to free floating particles at a given location. This was fascinating and educational to watch during Sandy. The color of the particles changes with the temperature. The graphs are great too and provide more information than I understand. But I like watching the change in barometric pressure over time as well as temperature and wind speed. A lot of thought has gone into this app. Yes, it is more money than other weather apps but worth in in my opinion.

If you are a weather nerd, you need this.

There are three applications I open every day, witthout fail: Mail, Safari and Seasonality Core. The information is detailed and well-presented, the support is wonderful, and the particle mode finally got me to understand frontal systems in a way I never had before. Highly, highly recommended.

Particle tracking is amazing!

The addition of particle tracking to this already great product is really cool. This map provides us a much greater understanding of how the weather is happening. Great work! I love it!

Its really nice; but...

Great interface and selection of data. I like the particle mode. Problems I have with it center around not being able to get wave height information, and not being able to enter my own latitude and longitude information for sites of my choosing. I also find it interesting that cloud density can be shown as "clear", current conditions can indicate "mostly cloudy". Also; havent found developers response to inquiry being very prompt: still waiting...

Very disappointed

Actually - given the price of this and the "reviews" I read, I really expected A LOT more. CONS: Very unusable radar images for up-close look. No high-res at all. I cant believe that one of the "reviews" said that this was for a meteorologist - outside of the particle mode, it isnt. Lacking a menubar temp and weather icon - something most apps have. Many folks keep a tidy dock and usually hidden, so having it in the menubar is ideal next to other auxiliary info, such as time. In looking at the screenshots I assumed it would bring in temp history and other measurements for a year - it doesnt seem to at all. It has to record it for that location everyday (journal it). So for instance, Id have to open this every day for a year to get temps or averages for a certain period. Would have expected by some of the "reviews" that this would have brought in some sort of historical data - it doesnt.

This is the one!

Ive tried dozens of weather applications, and Im constantly frustrated by some facet of each. Seasonality is exactly what Im looking for— detailed information, quality display, no unneccary distractions, good history retention, and on, and on… Particle mode just topped everything. Watching the world wind patterns animate is simply mesmerizing, and its the single best visualization Ive seen for helping me understand what the weather is doing and will soon be doing. If youre really interested in weather, and not just looking for a "do I need a jacket" app, then this is the one youre looking for.

Resource Hog

My CPU usage averages between 33-84% which is extremely high, in addition to the app using 998MB of RAM which is crazy for a weather app. The visuals are great and I really like the overall design but developer needs to improve resource usage.

Excellent Visualization

Provides and excellent way to visualize the weather. Totally worth the price.

Great weather app

Have this app for my ipad as well. Graphics are a little better on the iPad.Nice app

THE Weather App.

This is so far the finest weather app that I have found. I looked at some the others apps and some might be attractive to look at but none had the detail and accuracy and especially for smaller communities. With the integration of the new enhanced particle mode, this is the lead weather app. If possible going forward on would like to see weather alerts, maybe a tie in with local weather radio feeds, tighter integration with NOAA predictions. It will be interesting to see where the developer takes this app as it is already quite amazing. Well done!

Particle Mode Ruined, -1 Star

First, I love Seasonality Core. Really, really love it. Cool, fascinating, visually appealing and educational; overall a wonderful app! One of the coolest features is Particle Mode which displays the movement and temperature of surface air using small color-coded moving particles (small dots). It was fascinating and highly educational watching how cold and hot air masses interact with one another, how winds move along and over mountain ranges and passes, how storms interact with surrounding air currents, etc. Now, with the newly added "motion trails" in this version (2.4), Particle Mode runs much slower than before and looks plain awful. The trails are not only annoying and get in the way of seeing details, they are irrelevant; the particles, alone, are and where already in MOTION and TRAILING. Yes, I can see times turning the trailing feature on would be cool. Turning them off would also be cool. Sadly, however, the developers decided we have no choice in the matter and dont give an option to turn them off. I still love SC and still highly recommend it despite Particle Mode now being far less appealing. I just hope the developers choose to give us a choice soon and allow us the option to turn the annoying trails off.

A Powerhouse!

Ive used Seasonality Core practically since it debuted. It offers loads of weather information in graphic format and a unique map of the entire world that includes the wind flow, fronts, highs and lows, temperatures, satellite and radar, all in one shot. The developer is working to bring full coverage to more parts of the world. The only frontiers left for expansion seem to be lightning strikes and storm tracking.
