Seasonality Core App Reviews

It looked so good! but doesnt even show snow

It looked so good and I like following weather so I got it and wanted to look at the first North Eastern big record snow, … doesnt show snow, Im very disappointed and expected more, not less and certainly not something as basic as snow on radar. Missing maps... Way to expensive for what you get. I rated it 1 star lower because it was so expensive and lacking.

Great App and GREAT potential.

Great App Mike. This is exactly the kind of weather app I was looking for. And thanks for the very quick response to my email question regarding anomalies in the data recieved from the reporting stations. These anomalies can be edited from the database but for an app like this one (me thinks) it should be part of the app to be able to change the data displayed without changing the original databases so the original is secure and the end user (like me) can recover from my own mistakes. Developing an editor can also allow users to record their own preferred findings as well, in any of the databases. Am I asking for too much? he he. Thanks. Great App. 5 thumbs up.

Nice updates

I bought this app when it was rather rudimentary. Theyve added quite a few new features and I really like it. Its where I go to see whats going on in my area.

Nice app, great support

I originally purchased version 2.0 of this app and had immediate problems that made it unusable. I wasnt pleased, and since the price was more than I just wanted to "forget about," I contacted the developer for a possible fix. I was very surprised that even though it was a weekend, an email reply came within in minutes of my request. My list of hardware helped Mike identify a compatibility issue with my older Mac Pros video card. Even though I was one of only about three others reporting the issue, Mike thoroughly researched the problem, worked with Apple, and within a few days came up with a fix. He made beta copies available, and the first one worked perfectly (this fix is included in v2.1). There are many nice features here, and it is very fast, virtually instantaneous when switching among the easily added user locations. The combination of the satellite and visible radar views all in one place is a very nice touch. I am very pleased with Seasonality Core, and working with the developer was a very pleasant and productive experience.

Beautiful application… all the data available in one place.

I love the easy ability to get forecast, scads of data, and radar map all on a screen, and keep info for lots of locations in one place. Saves me going to a bunch of web sites that use Flash. Really pretty, too. Price is on the high side, but I guess its only $8/machine when I average it out ;-)

Really nice app. For my wants its perfect

Finally! FINALLY! A usefull weather radar map! I like alternating between the short (3 hr radar only) and the long (30 hr and cloude animation) update intervals. You can smoothly zoom out to see the whole planet or close in for relavent local radar. It would be a nice touch to add an option to display radar color/unit scales. And it sizes perfectly to my 21.5" display. Nice! What really caught my attention though, and personally have had extreme difficulty obtaining it w/o a fee, pulling historical weather data. That is what really facilitates forecasting! Good job!

Priced a bit high...

...but essential if weather is important to you. May not be as technically detailed as other solutions, but boy is this one easy and fun to use. :) Don

What I have been wanting

While this app is one of the most expensive weather appa, it is also the best I have found. I guess you do get what you pay for, as the saying goes. It is easy to customize, has worked flawlessly, looks great, provides all of the information I want, and is as accurate as weather forcasting gets. I have been using it on both my iPad and iMac and am glad I purchased it.

Everyone wants more...

but this program does it all. (Ive used it for about a year now) I even asked for help setting up a custom location, and it is working very nicely. I wish I could hook up to my Davis weather Link with this program, but I realize that requires an entirely seperate program. Im sure that future updates will only add to the quality of this program. One suggestion that I have is for the ability to lock the scale on the graphs so that the graph hight is no longer relative to the max wind, or max condition, but like I said, Im a totally happy camper.

A Great App

This is the way all Macs should be… the interface is clean, laid out in an understandable and "just works" way, things work the way you would expect them, and you dont need a PhD in Earth Science to know what it is telling you (i.e. it doesnt make you feel stupid). I really like how the graphics and colors work together to give you what you need to know at a glance, and the rotating "windsock" is a whether interface innovation (My brother-in law a Patent Atty says, run not walk and get a patent on the design/look/feel of this). I have found all versions of this to be stable and have not had a crash on my MacPro3. Of the different weather apps I have tried out this is the only one that gives you such information as wind speed and gust speed AND direction as a linear trackable item. All of which great to have, but is of great professional interest to an Accident Investagator or insurance adjustor. All this said, the App needs to be about 5-10 USD cheaper, while yes, the take per single sale is 20-40 less, the developer would increase sales, maybe double. Just sayn.

Best weather app Ive seen to date!

First I just want to say that Ive only had this app intalled for a few hours and havent yet completely "stretched its legs" but...wow! This is a very well put together display of weather data and will surely please most non-professional weather geeks. I particularly like the cylindrical display/graph of wind direction - very cool!! One thing I have not yet seen (or not yet firgured out) is whther or how this displays weather statements/watches/warnings for the selected locations. I agree that it is a little on the pricey side for an app that displays weather data but I am glad I splurged and got this. Would love to see the ability to add/track storms in addition to just getting data for cities. Add that feature and the weather statements/watches/warnings and I think the app would completely justify its price.

Best weather app there is

This app is very fast and has detailed weather info. I like that it supports custom weather stations by ICAO code. Switching between weather locations is extremely fast.

Very good, but where are warnings and watches?

This app brings the user a wealth of meaningful weather information, including forecasts and moving maps, for just about any location worldwide. The user interface is REALLY nice. Best of the bunch, I would say. My only complaint? Where are the warnings and watches? A comprehensive weather app MUST include these.

Poor UI

The UI is bad, almost terrible. Its unintuitive and extremely cluttered. For example, when I right click on a location and select "Reload weather data" nothing happens in the UI. Is the weather loading? I cant tell. There are examples like this all over the application. This application is not worth $25. I could justify spending maybe $5 on it, but thats a stretch.

Constantly Improving

This has always been a nice looking app, but the improvements in update speed and the addition of Surface Analysis on the map showing the location and types of fronts in the area are a terrific and much needed addition. I upped this from three to four stars and look forward to an update that puts it over the top. If youre a weather buff, this is a must-have app.

Really nice app!

If you are interested in the weather you should definitely check out this app. It has a a slick interface and the developer is very responsive to feed back and requests.

Very Good, but…

Love the app. I have been using it for a while and participated in one of the betas to get it to where it is. It does just about everything right and it would get 5 stars if the radar and maps had better resolution. I know you cant have great resolution everywhere, but it must be possible to get a better map source and a better radar source. The quality is lacking unless you are out far enough that you cant tell what is really happening in your home town, which is why you buy an app like this. Too many good things to mention, because everything else is just about perfect. Fantastic on iPad as well.

Beautiful, satisfies the geek in me, great support

The interface is just stunning and very smooth. The new particle mode is quite neat; it clearly shows how air streams move around the location of interest. Love this. Dont take my word for it; you can try the app for free if you download it from the developers site. Great support; when I have a question the developer generally responds in a matter of hours. Just a very good Indie title with a clearly dedicated developer. Recommended.

This version is Great

This version is Great. With particle mode you can see the whole worlds weather. Incredible.

Excellent Weather App for a Meteorologist

Granted, it doesnt have all the bells and whistles a Meteorologist would like to have (such as global surface analyses, radar coverage over Europe, Skew-Ts, etc), but between the sleek graphical parameter displays and the particle (air stream) animation, one can definitely derive most significant features and even give an armchair forecast. This app is definitely worth the $29.99, and I look foreword to enhanced updates in the future!
